Card Making World & Me

Prior to starting Card Making World, my life had been turned upside down by a series of events. I'd lost my mum, my partner and my business and I was facing losing my home. But, I managed to turn things around by making a website about something I already had experience of - I've now been working online from home since 2006 and I wouldn't change a thing!

Working online with a website is not a way to 'get rich quick' but you can earn a sustainable income from what you already know

Because I was a single parent, and I'd had recurrent episodes of depression since my first child was born, I knew I needed to do something that would be least affected by my situation...something that would be flexible and take care of itself when I couldn't work on it.

It seemed that working online was the way to go, but I didn't have a clue what to do.

I spent a lot of time reading free ebooks and stuff, not knowing what to spend my little budget on first! There was so many 'essentials' I was told I needed to have, and it was so confusing!

Why I chose Site Build It!

I had stumbled upon 'Site Build It!' but moved on because I didn't 'get it', didn't understand at the time what it was about.

But, the more I learned through my research and the ever-growing list of essential services, software and subscriptions that I had to buy to make sure I was successful, the more I kept thinking back to this thing called 'Site Build It!'.

Comparing my growing list of must have's against what Site Build It! was offering was a no-brainer - I could have EVERYTHING I needed to get a site up and earning money, literally, everything for the same price of just a couple of these other essential packages, and for less than my budget. Just my hosting fees from my previous shop's website were costing me the same as what SBI was going to cost me PLUS I would get all the other stuff. So, Card Making World was born.

...and I have never looked back, in fact I just started my 5th site!

Helping other crafters work from home

Card Making World is my main 'content-based' website, but over time I've developed a few others as well - and I would love to show other mums how they could try earn an income by working online, showing that their existing knowledge is valuable. This is what my other site, Work at Home Toolkit, is about - there's also lots of freebies you can download to get you on the right track.
