Baby's 1st Birthday
I used a 12x12 white pearlised card blank (like a diamond shape) and made my own template for the envelope card. The finished size you see above is about 8x8, with the corner flaps turned outward to make the card stand up. These flaps can then be turned back over, (inwards) to cover the central card, (similar to unstuck envelope flaps). To be able to close the flaps, I cut a small, curved slit on one of the flap corners (the top flap) and slid the opposite corner (bottom flap) into it, to secure it. Then to secure the left and right flaps together, I punched a hole into the two, meeting flaps and inserted an eyelet into each hole. I then threaded organza ribbon through, with afew small beads threaded on the ends of the ribbon, small enough for the ribbon to still pass through the eyelets.
On the non-pearlised side, I decoupaged the animals from 5 scrapbooking papers, using the first one as the main background. For the number 1 and the letters S and T, I used cardboard letters bought from my local craft shop and guilded them with variegated metal flakes and stuck them together. I glittered the Giraffe, Teddy and Hippo, to make the pattern stand out and finished off with coloured peel offs and a silver peel off edging.
I dry embossed 'Happy Birthday' and a couple of toys, on all four flaps and tied the ribbon, to close the card.
