Ok, first off, lets give you some terrific freebies to download and print - follow this link to go to ComputerScrapbook.com and look for the 'free' tab on the main screen - they have a lovely selection of digital supplies for you to download and play with!!
While you're there, have a look around at the other gorgeous stuff - digital craft supplies are VERY VERY cheap - and re-usable (print as often as you like) - excellent value for money.

July 31, 2006 11:43 - Free Picasa Software from Google - Must Have!

I am a great Google fan, and am delighted that they GIVE us Picasa for free!

"Picasa" is part of Google Pack - a collection of essential free software. It is photo editing/organising free software...it does a remarkable job of indexing all your photos (even ones you forgot you had) and you can Label them into collections and attach keywords so they are easy to find.




This is an absolute GODSEND for my digital craft supplies - being able to bunch all embellishments together as 'Embellishments' but then also split these off into 'types' like buttons, ribbon, gold, silver, metal etc... Normally, if you had a gold coloured ribbon you would have to decide if it should go in the Ribbon folder or the 'gold things' folder, but with Picasa you can assign anything to any keyword or label you wish without messing up your folder structure.

Of course, for actual 'photographs' this is just out of this world - you have a family photo with mum, dad, the kids and Great Uncle Johnny - from now on you can just save the photo as you normally would but find it easily later on by being able to search for Great Uncle Johnny when you come to do a Memory Card for his 60th birthday ;-) You could label the photo up as 'Summer 06' as well as a 'family' photo and then each of the names...oh the possibilities for an easier life!!!!

On top of this organisation ability, you can also edit your images and 'create' things right there in the software, but I guess many of us 'digi' people already have our graphics programmes for this - but if you don't, it's another reason to try it.

I URGE you to download this free software, even if it's just to take a quick look and decide it's not for you - but I promise you it rocks, it's intuitive, it looks great, it does what it says AND you can get support!

I use Paint Shop Pro, and with it I got an organiser called Photo Album or something...I'm not right sure because I don't use it - sure its a great program but Picasa is far better in my humble opinion :-)
